Creating physical stimulation to reduce sleep latency.

More than one third of Americans suffer from sleep latency. To help solve this, we developed an audio ASMR technology to create physical stimulation.

Insights

More than one third of Americans suffer from sleep latency. To help solve this, we developed an audio ASMR technology to create physical stimulation.
Autonomous sensory meridian response (ASMR), sometimes called auto sensory meridian response, creates a tingling sensation that typically begins on the scalp and moves down the back of the neck and upper spine. ASMR signifies the subjective experience of "low-grade euphoria" characterized by "a combination of positive feelings and a distinct static-like tingling sensation on the skin". It is most commonly triggered by specific auditory or visual stimuli and creates a state of relief.

Solution

We developed a service which allows the users to create their own soundscabs or listen to premade ones. Based on research, we developed a list of the most effective sounds to create an ASMR sensation. At Somnia, our audio designers digitally reproduced thousands of those sounds in high quality (e.g. rain, wind, thunder…). On our platform, those sounds will be broken into thousands of pieces (we call them aubits) and will be reconstructed on the go letting them constantly evolve to keep the listening fresh. The sounds will be projected in 3D around the users head, creating a sensation of a real environment, immersing the user to a state of relaxation.

Awards

- We were so honoured and happy to win the Danish Sound Startup Award 2018 given by the "Danish Sound Network".

Alicia Torres

- I'm super impressed. When you first download the app it asks you a couple of questions about your preferences. Then it immediately starts playing a perfect blend of sounds tailored to you!
